| Diving in Cyprus |
It’s like swimming in a giant aquarium amongst the colorful fish, the funny stone formations and sunken ships. Cyprus is an ideal setting for diving, especially for beginners, since the ocean is quiet and the instructors are Scandinavian. The water is crystal clear and all the colors are there, only you can’t spot it right away. This is due to the water’s ability to act as a color filter. The colors fade as early as at one meter’s depth .
The red color is the first to disappear, but with a lantern all the natural colors appear and suddenly you’re in God’s own painting shop. Diving at Cape Greco is a weightless walk through lava caves, fish and overgrown stone formations. The world down here is quiet and incredibly beautiful.
Other diving sites can be found in Senobea, a sea mile from Larnaca, with a load containing over 40 SAAB Scania trucks.
On several places objects from centuries can be found, and it is still possible to find naval objects which dates back hundreds of years. This type of objects (if they are found) is to be registered at the local authorities. The diving season in Cyprus lasts from March to November. The best offers are available during the early and late parts of the season, when the prices are low and the queues short. But even during the busy season Cyprus have great offers.
